Yeah, not that one.
The brother has gone. After a few weeks of tidying the garage, and then the room in which he abides at the back of the house, he has hopped on a plane to go and fetch his partner and child. Yes, they could not just come here, apparently, but that is another issue entirely.
So in less than two weeks this already overflowing household will increase its number by two, but most importantly is this…
My brother’s little girl is nearly a Miss 2 of her own. Now, out Miss 2 gets along alright at play group, and can interact okay when going out to places, but having an entirely new little person around constantly, who will be subject to their own specific rules, and helping divide the attention of all the people she is used to be getting it from is another matter.
We are still having issues with her attempts at eating dinner, for example, and if little Miss Cousin can get away with eating whatever it is that little Miss Cousin eats, it will be that much more difficult to curtail her into eating what we think she should.
Little Miss 2 can also get around quite easily. She can collect items to climb up onto to reach things on the kitchen counter, open fridges, disrobe herself entirely, open drawers and cupboards to play with what is inside. I can just picture two little girls, sneaking around conspiratorially, grabbing something from the fridge (albeit from near the bottom shelf) and running off and hiding somewhere to devour it, possibly giggling madly while doing so. Oh sure, it will be cute for a while, but it is not exactly the ideal situation.
My concerns could be all for naught. I know. They could get along okay, be quite happy to play together sometimes, play apart others, learn the plundering lesson early, and every parent involved could be in agreeance as to what levels vegetables should be eaten before the ice cream comes out. But I doubt it, oh so very much.
Update from last post
The attempting to take nearly naked child out to the car to show her that she needs to get dressed has worked twice, not worked once, so we will consider that to still be in beta testing shall we?
The Great Quest for a Fish.
The rules have been set down, again. The year is 16 weeks from completion, and there have been tentative nods from the children that they agree that they require 12 weeks to pass the test. There were still some last minute things to tidy up before this week started, but we should be in the position to make a good ‘yes/no’ response come next Sunday. Still not entirely sure if they understand the opportunity involved here, but gauging your child’s interest in things can sometimes be a tricky beast.
